I had a telkom landline installed for the purpose of getting uncapped wifi, the technician said that there are no dsl ports open,I live in a small town and there is more than 50 people on the waiting list for a port since last year May.How do i get them to open or find me a port without waiting a year?????????????

Get a hold of those 50 people and make a noise, that should get them to upgrade stuff.

Stilbaai in the Western Cape

Send an email to the area executive, <removed>, and ask him when Stilbaai's DSL capacity will be upgraded as you understand that there are at least 50 waiting applicants.

Good luck, I had ADSL for many years, then gave it up and went 3G, 3 years later I reapplied for ADSL and was told no ports available. 3 years later I finally got a port, with the same telephone number that I had 6 years previously ... , and the number had not bee re-allocated in the ensuing 6 years ... , this and the fact the the tech I spoke to numerous times, while he was working on the local DSLAM, telling me there where 6 ports available ... , which leads me to believe that Telkom don't know what resources they have available, possibly due to other people, in the "chain" not doing their jobs ...

Unfortunately, your experience repeats itself all over the place.

Late 2014 we applied for 5 x 4 Mbps ports in an exchange area, where we knew 2 things; that the ports were available, and that 4 Mbps was available.

Yet officially, there were no ports spare and only 2 Mbps was available.

The run around we got was quite amazing! The excuses were anything from no equipment, to no one to install, to a lack of backhaul capacity.

In the end all that was wrong was a problem in the customer facing databases for that particular exchange area ....
