no EDGE in CBD!!!

:confused: Why doesnt MTN have EDGE in Krugersdorp CBD whereas its a big town? actually its Mogale City! and no EDGE at all! Smaller residential areas such as Kagiso which are close by have EDGE and the CBD doesnt! Vosacom already has 3G in Krugersdorp............Cmon guys---give us EDGE and 3G in Krugersdorp....fast

NOTED AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE.Thats GOOD service.......Just join the leader in 3G.Or you can wait until next year for coverage.
 
I have to agree dbnnet, what Tahir does is completly unethical.

Though I always have a good laugh when he posts and Vodacom3G has to put out fires with all the rumors he has started and misinformation that he has given out and had to make an official statement saying that Tahir had nothing to do with Vodacom other than giving information from "an independent service providers" point of view... Who well from my experience.. usually dont know anything!

Just really wish he would grow up and stop posting here on the MTN threads... I thought you had to older than 16 nowdays to get a fulltime job.. Seems like Vodacom SP'ers are hiring 12 year olds

3G could well be nearing it's "sell by date"!
If you want to see if 3G has a future .... you simply have to look at what the Chinese are planning to do.

Orange paid Billions of Euros for 3G licences but the South african networks only paid a million rand.The European networks were also charging their customer High prices for 3G.Today in Europe they are discounting tarrifs like its going out of fashion.In South Africa we started CHEAP and i can only see prices coming down in the next few months.
 
Yes, I agree, prices will come down.
But that will have nothing to do with the overall success or failure of 3G.
The fact that both Vodacom and MTN are proceeding with caution
(Coverage is still very conservative at best) tells me that they are well aware
that their risks are high.
By deploying EDGE, MTN have hedged their bets and will not be fully exposed
to the same extent as Vodacom. This if SA customers (like Orange) don't find 3G compelling!
Either way, as MTN customers like me are fully aware, EDGE is providing a
very stable solution, with results that makes 3G unappealing ....for now at any rate.

LOL. Actually, no, I work for a large SA corporate (that owns companies with Head Offices in Josey, Durbs and Cape Town - hence the reason I get around so much!).

Without giving my ID away, my job entails working very closely with the Telco industry, as well as hardware/software vendors such as Cisco, IBM, HP, Microsoft and SAP ;)

Here is the EDGE/3G plan for phase 1 for MTN for Krugersdorp planning area :
(phase 1 is completed - phase 2 has started. Cant publish phase 2 details yet!)

Hope this helps clear things up - Krugersdorp is definately on MTNs roadmap...

Thats all aroung Krugersdorp not in CBD! and vodacom has 3 G in CBD.Those are all cell IDs for areas 5 to 10 km away from Krugersdorp....

Another thing: Check the thread on lowest GPRS rates:
8c per mb in India!!!!
