Hi guys

I am following up on a similar issue that was had by someone HERE
But since the last person did not get any satisfaction, i decided to start a new thread.

I kind of took this in my stride and hope it would come right, but today i NEED the OTP, and i spent all my time on the phone trying to make payments.

It's the exact same story:
* Upgraded in January from Cel-C
* Can't get OTP, Transaction details, and Logins etc from the bank (other sms' work though)
* Phoned FNB > They reset my In-contact service
* Phoned Vodacom > They gave me a string *141*777# to activate WIG, but that was for ABSA, and didn't work
* Phoned FNB > They confirmed everything working on their side and that it is at my SP (Vodacom)
* Phoned Vodacom > They "tested" by sending a sms and asking if i can receive. After which they deny that there is any way the fault is with them

So now, me being a VODACOM customer, I am pleading for the last time for support in this matter.
PLEASE HELP YOUR CLIENT!

Is it not a case of them using on net sms and assuming you are on another network still?
I know some of the sms routing is done like that to save costs, not sure if its the case with FNB.

Damn, hope it's not like that for me. I've just cancelled my contract and going prepaid on 14 May. 15 May I'm going to port to another network ( need to investigate who has the best prepaid packages)

If you do find a resolution, I'd appreciate it you post it here.

My sister ported from Cell-C to VodaCom recently and took a month to sort this issue out with numerous trips and calls to VodaCom. Made me change my mind about doing the same thing. Please post the progress here so that I know if it's a simple process to fix in case I do make the switch.

Are you receiving other SMS's? I suspect it is a FNB probem then. I really wish the other banks would do like Capitec and either give the physical token generator or like I have done, switch on Mobile Banking and it generates the key on there to log in. No more SMS crap. Works like a charm for me.

I am receiving other SMS's. I spoke to FNB and they said that all is configured correctly from their side.

Like the previous thread posted, is it not needed to touch base with CelC with regards to some type of routing?

That is what I requested to be done on your line and what was done.

I've had two separate solutions to this before; first time (a few years ago) I had to speak to someone in the porting department at the network I ported away from to get them to update their routing for banking sms's (this is what they told me), after which it worked (other sms's were working fine just not banking). It took me a few phone calls before I got to someone who actually had a clue about this.

Second issue was last week when my wife ported from MTN to Telkom Mobile, FNB had her number as 071 instead of 081 (no idea how that happened as it was fine before the port) and they changed it on their side and all was fine...

Perhaps try calling Cell C yourself and ask to be transferred to the porting department.

Hi all.

To give you an update - We were going forth and back between Vodacom and FNB. Finally with my own testing I realized that I am not getting ANY sms' from MTN numbers.

After informing Vodacom of this, the query was resolved within a week.

I guess a good rule of thumb is to set up a secondary OTP cell number before you port.

I know you can do this for FNB, but you probably need access to the primary OTP at least once to configure the secondary. You can also select the secondary as an email address, but I consider that risky. If your online banking is compromised your email might be as well.
