Okay, I have phoned all the numbers I can think of (support and otherwise) enquiring about a hard cap. None of the people I spoke to knew wtf I was talking about. They insisted that there was to be no hard cap.

Im going to be phoning them again shortly, this time recording all the conversations, as I believe this is seriously anti-competitive.

That sounds like the adverts for ADSL. Nowhere will you find that you have to pay for the analog line (R94). I see that even http://www.cybersmart.co.za advertises the total cost without the analog line. I have complained to them...but they just dont give a crap...just like telkom.

/me wos wondering about that 2.
It is logical though, and remeber, anticompetitive only applies while you are a monopoly.
Welcome to the world of the duopoly ...

We are still trying to get it in writing. If thats the case, we don't have to worry about 1 November. There is no way we will hardcap and TelkomInternet not.

As a Telkomsa subscriber I have emailed them and asked for confirmation or otherwise re changes.

So far multiple people have read the email. Some people have deleted without reading.

None have replied.

But why would I expect otherwise, I'm only a fcuking subscriber to their service. (Yeah I do know I can change).

Just make sure that you inform them first, that you will be recording the conversation, just to be legal and all.

ill inform them that i am recording for 'quality control and service training'

rather try and speak to a manager! - most of those telkom call agents are backward! - they probably dont even no wat a cap is!

wen u ask them about the hard cap, they think its a hard hat like for mining.

ask them anything SLIGHTY away from email then they go blank.

u will probably get more support from your nearest fruit grocer on the street

i agree with photoman... if you ask them about a cap they will all say no cap --> they dont have one on their head.

So it’s not only me they ignore, I was starting to feel paranoid:o

If any of you guys get lucky enought to receive this via email, please forward to me so I can get it through to our attorneys. You can do so annonymously if you wish.

I recieved a reply today from a contact at Telkom and he confirmed that TelkomSA are indeed hardcapping.. he said details weren't finalised though so I presume that's why he never mentioned anything about throttling etc. but from the sound of his email, the TelkomSA 'Advanced' package is staying at 3GB's ... and he made it sound like that was perfectly enough for the power user and that ISPs such as Axxess, WebAfrica etc. stuffed the whole game up by coming and bypassing Telkom's beautiful cap... I really wanted to phone the oke and threaten him and his family hehe

There's nothing advanced about 3GB's I'm afraid.. someone should call them and tell them.. the cap has been 3GB and the same price for how many years now? Talk about extending the life of crap offerings..

I spoke to Telkom today and the 3rd person told me that the price will not change for 3Gb but after the 3Gb my service will cease to function and i will need to perchase a further 3Gb. I asked her to fax this through to me and she says Telkom has made no hard copy or digital copy of this yet. I asked when I can recieve infomation about this and as I am not a subcriber of Telkom she says I will not. I asked if I was when I would find out and she told be to look inside my bill at months end. When I said we are a company and we need 30 days to make arrangements she said it is not her choice. When I asked again if this was official she said she was not sure but what she has told me was what she was told to say.

Need?

Do TelkomInternet really need to tell their clients?

I mean, they never had the 30GB accounts in the first place so these wouldn't be falling away and nor did they had very cheap "regular" accounts so they could just be leaving their account pricing as it is?

In this case there would be no need to communicate anything to their clients, I guess.

But their clients where told and sold a package with unlimited local bandwidth, this they MUST inform their clients about!
