History: I applied for a Adsl line when I moved to Umhlanga Rocks in January. I was told the waiting period is 4-6 weeks. At 6 weeks I followed up, in person at the Gateway shop, and was told the service will be connected by end of March. End of March I was told end of April. End of april I was end of August. Now I received a letter from Steps Naude at Telkom that states:
“Since the infrastructure serving your immediate area does not support broadband type sevice, we will unfortunetly not be able to provide you with a service at this stage”
I am renting the house and I do not understand how this is possible as there is a adsl potts filter in the living room???
Does this mean no one will ever have ADSL again only people with ADSL currently because we cannot build the infrastucture?
Please help me I really need a broadband connection.

Checked HSDPA signal?

Supposedly it works for games...Kinda..if you're in a good area.

Useless for games, especially FPS games where low-latency is critical. Sentech is also useless, iBurst isn't that great either, but if you can't get WIMAX (which would be the best commercially-available option besides for ADSL) then go for iBurst.

WiMax is a wireless alternative for ADSL. In principle it works that same way you would run your ADSL, and it's 100% perfect for gaming.

Using it now for 6 months, never had a days problems with WiMax :D

This is after i waited a year for Telkom to "Upgrade" my exchange. They pulled the same story at me, saying there isnt any infrastructure in my area. Yet my neighbour had ADSL
