I haven't been able to surf any international sites today. Anyone have an idea of what's going on? Local seems fine now after disconnecting & reconnecting 5 times. :(

local on my side is crappy.... even this forum failed to load a few times... seems to be stuck between 2K and 20K and behaving rather erratically... however international is pretty solid

SAIX (South African Internet Exchange) went down last night. Came back up this morning but has been extremely slow. So it's not iBurst's fault. Everyone is experiencing this.

makes sense... thanks rudids and i was about to phone wbs helpdesk... actually very interetsed to see what they say... probably something as grand as... oh no there is nothing wrong with the system and you are the only one... ha ha ha

and they complain bcuz wbs treats them like ****.... ha ha ha

makes no sense... apple trailer coming in at about 100KB/s but telkom speed test only gives 20KB max...

the wonderful world of iburst... we have to appreciate that iburst offers a surprise offer each day though... it's like russian roulette each day. will it be good or crud... heh heh... anyway rumour has it network should be solid by the afternoon... and why do these things always happen on the weekend?

Are you downloading the trailer and doing the speed test at the same time?
They do it on the weekend as to not interfere with business. its standard practice

you right it makes no sense then.. were you multithreading the trailer?

Well, mine is not.

International:

----195.92.95.5 PING Statistics----
66 packets transmitted, 4 packets received, 93% packet loss
round-trip (ms) min/avg/max = 2110/2172/2210

Local:

----196.4.160.2 PING Statistics----
66 packets transmitted, 66 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip (ms) min/avg/max = 50/80/210

----196.30.31.120 PING Statistics----
66 packets transmitted, 66 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip (ms) min/avg/max = 50/91/310

The international problem seems to be with WBS's feed. The Telkom outage report on http://www.uunet.co.za/_service/networknotices/default.asp?n=910 has not been closed yet.
