No line even though DSL light is solid green

Hi, my internet went out last Thursday and it's been 8 days now. This isn't too long but that's not the annoying part. I PMed TelkomZA on Friday and he reported the fault and escalated it. on Saturday I was phoned by a technician and he said something about there being problem in the box (DSLam maybe?). I asked TelkomZA on Monday what was going on and on Tuesday he said that there had been a fibre break and that there was also a power issue at the DSLam. Apparently it was fixed that night. My fault was marked as solved yesterday but it wasn't. TelkomZA reopened it for. I phoned Telkom now and the call center agent said that a technician would not be sent because my line is syncing.

My DSL light is solid green but my internet light is red.What do you guys think is the issue. I've had the ports recreated before and after my line was "fixed", I've tried a different modem and I've tried using the Telkom guest account.

So what you're saying is that the line syncs but the account won't authenticate?

Get a 1GB Web Africa account (free) and test it with that.
 
Hi. I had exactly the same problem, 2 weeks ago. I tested another account plus my free afrihost account plus the Telkom guest account. None working, I could use the phone, DSL light on but INTERNET LIGHT OFF. At first I thought it was my router, so I tried updating the firmware, still didn't work. Then I went and plugged my router in at a friends house and it just connected straight away(I was at the point of going to buy a new router). Then I phoned Telkom and the guy reset my port, I was still on the line for like 10mins after he had reset the port and while he was busy explaining the costs involved for the technician to come out, the INTERNET light just magically turned on. Later the night I realised he somehow downgraded me from 4mb sync to 2mb. I phoned Telkom again and they upped my line back to 4mb. Line still working luckily.
