No loadshedding today?

I thought with all the businesses, plants & factories starting up after Easter, there might be "considerable pressure" on the electricity grid. But no.

Then again, there was another story on Carte Blanche about the impact loadshedding has on small businesses. And the weather is nice!
 
Must be the weather... I think people are more inclined to turn on a heater than to put on another jersey :/
 
I guess eskom and governments rolodex of excuses has run out. Perhaps they need more time to think of some more?

People are more likely to turn on the aircon than they were last week, too.

And our street lights are STILL on, midday.
So, yeah, go figure. Eskom are a pack of liars.
 
At 12:50 the needle on the Poweralert meter has suddenly shifted to orange (electricity supply under pressure). Perhaps the restaurants are cooking too much or something?

I was really surprised this morning to find the meter in the green. I expected Eskom to make a useless excuse like they did when the cold arrived last week.

Another thing, what does a normal household have to do to garnish 10% of their electricity usage every day? Switching off the geyser saves WAY more than 10% (until you switch it back on). Shouldn't replacing all your incandescent bulbs with energy saving bulbs constitute a 10%+ saving?

They managed to start Koeberg successfully.
It is producing at 100%.

I hope there is no loose screw or bolt this time!

Sorry, optimism overtook reality!;)
 
Aren't power stations rated to be able to operate at something like 120%? But to err on the side of caution they're kept lower than that?

Not sure how nuclear plants work.

If Koeberg produces more than 100% i suggest the Capetonians move to anywhere else!

Radioactivity lasts a long time!

Meltdown..... not good!:D

Ask the citizens from Chernobyl!
