ok, here's an interesting problem I'm encountering:
never encountered this before, very strange issue

win 10, loads perfectly up until the part where you need to login,
screen is blank, with the background and clock and power button, but nothing is shown.

ctrl+alt+del, on keyboard and on external keyboard or on on screen keyboard does nothing.
holding down SHIFT to try get into recovery environment Does nothing.

booting into win 10 installation media and then going into repair works.
opened command prompt,
ran SFC scannow, no issues,
added another local user, added, but again cant see this user as login screen not showing up.

running startup repair now, lets see what comes up,
but need some more ideas, what could be wrong here,

similar issues to this guy:

so not sure what else to try?

Is fast startup enabled or disabled under win10 power options?

I can only laugh
why?

its damn bizarre, like something is running in the background
and alt+tab and Ctrl+alt+del do nothing.

anyway, ran startup repair, reset the login background picture, but again,
did nothing to actually see anything on the screen.

trying system restore now, unless you guys have something else I should try?

Because that OS is just awful, the number of times mine has broken in the past....

safe mode > remove display drivers try again?

*shrugs* this is windows 10 and it could be anything.

display is working 100%, its kind of hard to explain,

but essentially where you put your password and username is gone, nothing there.
but the rest of it is there, like the power button, ease of access and on screen keyboard

so its like you can login perfectly, but there's nowhere to put your details into.

honestly first time Ive seen this, and yes, did try create another user with NET USE,
still wont appear, even then.

damn Bizarre.

Windows telling you to take a break. haha.

awful yes, but until a decent alternative is used by majority of people,
its what we got, do agree android and Linux is awesome, but to teach people how to use it?
uphill battle.

Bit like arch; I love it but I don't want to rebuild the OS while already having to deal with obtuse code.

Can one perform an inplace upgrade (upgrading win10 to win10) from bootable installation media? Probably last thing I would just go with and see what happens.

exactly, Windows as bad as it is, could be a whole lot worse.
Have you tried just pressing enter on that screen?
no, I got my Pet monkey to do it

but seriously.

yes and then you see just the background, with nothing there, at the bottom of the screen the power button and options like ease of access.
but nowhere to put your password in.
so cant login,

Maybe, just maybe... try this:

Learn about Windows Hello and set it up

Windows 10
Windows Hello is a more personal, more secure way to get instant access to your Windows 10 devices using fingerprint, facial recognition, or a secure PIN. Most PC's with fingerprint readers already work with Windows Hello, making it easier and safer to sign into your PC. Here's how to set it up:

  1. Go to the Start menu and select Settings .
  2. Go to Accounts > Sign-in options .
  3. Under Manage how you sign in to your device, select a Windows Hello item to add, change, or remove it.
  4. If your device is not compatible, see devices that work with Windows Hello.
How does Windows Hello keep my info private?

doing a restore now, and then going to do precisely that,
whats the option for that? , is it custom installation?
I don't know, might be it's obviously the one where you select a previous win10 installation to upgrade. I normally do this within windows 10 itself if needed.
