No need for panic, says Eskom

Eskom has responded to a recent surge in unplanned outages above the mark the utility said would trigger widespread load shedding.

Eskom is 100% government owned. A pure SOE. No shareholders (plural). One public shareholder.

Though I suppose one could say then that theoretically we individual South Africans are shareholders effectively. But then the point has come full circle. i.e. People panicking.

In any case... Wasteful spending and corruption is undoubtedly still a concern. As illustrated once again by the recent news that fraudulent prepaid electricity sales is still a huge problem. And undoubtedly there are still fat tenderpreneurs buzzing around the SOE.
