No poppies for some teams

What a disgrace. Nothing on the shirts of Man Utd players. I see Bolton didn't have either. Liverpool say they won't be wearing one tomorrow as well. Repulsive behavior and they should be ashamed of themselves :mad:

Well done to the rest of the teams in the PL though

That said - you sure they didn't have poppies? I mean red shirts and all. Wasn;t really paying attention. I did see that Chelsea wore it (hard to miss really) and so did Carlo and SAF. Why aren't pool n united doing it?
 
I wouldn't see why anyone would be offended - they can wear it if they want, and not wear them if not...

Not wearing a poppie definitely shouldn't be interpreted as disrepectful...
 
I thought it was cos our shirts are red and they would not be able to put one on there that you could actually see?

Refusal to wear one is disrespectful. If others teams can do it so can they. But clearly they're not bothered.

Man Utd have that awful black stripe on their front. Pinned there it would be clearly visable.

It extends to all servicemen now.
 
Man United spokesman said: "We don't think it's particularly necessary. We sell poppies around the ground and all our officials wear them and we work with armed forces charities in a lot of other ways throughout the year."

Footy365's take: That's their decision and freedom of decision is what this century's great wars were fought for. By refusing to be cowed by the self-righteous moralising of a self-righteous moralising newspaper, United have reminded that wearing a poppy is a voluntary act and not an obligation. In that context, with 18 of the 20 top-flight clubs carrying the poppy on their kits this extended weekend, United may not have promoted the cause but they at least served it well.

Still no excuse. Nothing creates awareness of the cause like wearing it on the team shirt. How hard can it be ffs :rolleyes:

Anyway Football365 are a bunch of lefty prats (aren't much better at footie either) so they're only good for a laugh.....

I like footy365. Not afraid to be controversial.

Back on topic, did you miss the justification given being that of CHOICE, which is what all these people are actually fighting and dying for? Freedom and choice. Not too much of a stretch if you ask me.
 
If you read the press release by the Royal British Legion you would know that LFC have a huge fundraising effort going on. so I dont see it a big issue for the players to put something on their shirt that would hardly be noticed seeing its red as well.
 
Nobody is forcing them to do it. We have every right to criticize and condemn them for the choices they make. For F365 to claim they're suddenly serving the cause is laughable. In it's so ironic F365 is exactly the same type of tabloid journalism they continuously attack :D

Just look at the anti war demonstrations. Are they not criticizing and condemning the choice of going to war?


All I'm saying is why why can't they just put a poppie on their shirt. It's really asking so little for something that has a great impact.

I just don't see it such a big deal . Last year nobody cared, now this sudden, sensationalist hype all of a sudden.

I think the point about choice has been thoroughly missed by most, though. You are indeed free to criticise anyone's choices as you see fit. That is also what they are fighting for ;)
