Eskom does not have a policy of retrenching employees based on race, the parastatal said on Monday.

This recent story about Eskom needing to retrench x white engineers did not come from Eskom. It come from some govt dept telling Eskom that they should retrench x white engineers.

No it came from some independent analyst/commentator and not eskom or gov as far as I know.

Why is only the first half of the article relevant? They just stop the story halfway without explaining where the confusion comes from, and then carry on about GDP losses and load shedding?

Jan de Lange is a highly respected labour and economics journalist.

OT: I have experienced this "principle of natural attrition." It means we will not retrench you because you are white, but the best you can expect is to be tolerated until you leave voluntarily. I left.
