I know that iv posted this before but why is it that the closer i get to iBurst people start complaining???:(
someone give me good news please!!!!

2mb/s and tower bandwidth upgrades?

Perhaps increased cap sizes for no extra cost..

Thats about all we've got, but its pretty good actually. The problems they have depend a lot on your area and your specific connection/tower. Oh and problems like the bandwidth meter being a bit messed up for a few hours or Ed's blog going down shouldn't be much to worry about. You shouldn't be planning on using that blog if you really want to get help and know whats going on.

So it could still be fine for you, but guess what.. just get a test and see how it works for you if you are worrying.

Please be more specific - are you experiencing a problem with your iBurst and what is that problem?
 
NO I was with sentech and I want to go to iBurst but it seems like they also having problems just like sentech.
 
iBurst has it's share of problems, but judging from the posts I've seen from ex-Sentech users it's nothing like Sentech. However, as noted above, it depends where you are in relation to the BS.

In the past 3 months we have had few minutes of downtime, but all in all it have been good - for HTTP & VoIP and occasional p2p.
 
Other than maintenance downtime, I have never had a problem with my connection. Speeds have always been great and the throttled service after reaching cap is a major plus. I've used it all the way from Benoni through Johannesburg, and am now currently staying in Fourways.

The way it's going iBurst will be changing it's name to Sentech2 and it makes no difference where you are in CT in relation to the base station anymore, thank the iBurst tech team for that messup.:sick:
 
I'm using the JHB Hyde Park BS, and so far these last 2 months I've had 2 DC on me due to the BS going down... but it's usually fixed after 6 hours (MAX)

Speeds are nice and fast (provided I use a threaded app) I get full speeds. Was playing UT2k4 at capped speed on the local servers (150ping which is high but least still playable). Uncapped it sits around 70ping.

Skype is nice and clear.

Torrents... I don't bother cos it's too damn slow :(
 
I've had nothing but good experiences with iBurst. My connection speeds are good (around 700kb/s). Their helpdesk staff are always helpful and friendly, and they've gone out of their way in the past to get me what I was looking for (search for some of my previous posts on this forum).

I am currently in the process of moving all my hosted websites to my home. I've got the static IP from iBurst and the domain transfers are in progress. I know a lot of people on this forum have had problems with iBurst, but I can honestly say that they are really good.

Maybe I just have good luck. I used to be with Sentech back in the day and I never had downtime or poor speeds with them either.
 
andrewr, I also never had problems and in general was a very happy iburster, BUT the past few weeks since they've been messing with the system here in CT my speeds have dropped from one of the best to one the worst.

Besides that I'm having major problems with downloads corrupting at the end of my downloads, I know someone close by with a similar problem and he has been in contact with Ed about it, hopefully it will get resolved.
 
andrewr, just out of curiosity, is it a wise idea having a website server running off of an iburst connection with the cap? never mind multiple websites

I check the server stats from the websites before I moved them and I will have way more than enough cap. They aren't really very high profile sites and generally get less than 300 hits per day.

My connection is so stable and quick, that I'm confident enough to run these websites off my iBurst connection, and the amount of money I'm saving by hosting the sites myself I can use to buy additional bandwidth if required.

Current setup:

iBurst UTD (new black modem) with static IP
Domains parked at iBurst and pointed to my static IP
D-Link DI-524 Wireless broadband router (web server connected directly to router through ethernet), setup port forwarding to web server.
Downstream D-Link DWL-2100AP in repeater mode
My desktop and laptop connect to the internal network via wireless 802.11G.
WPA-PSK (TKIP) security used for internal wireless network

Works like a dream :-)

The exact base station that a lot of people are complaining about. Works fine for me hey.

Oh, and btw. I would like to thank Ed and his team (specifically Rodney) for assisting me today with a DNS issue I had. Excellent professional service (and no, they aren't paying me). I'm really happy I'm not sitting with any issues like some others are, perhaps I'm just lucky. For me, iBurst ROCKS.

So Ed, you wanna upgrade me to 2MB/s first? :-)
