I signed up for 2MB Telkom Uncapped last month. I received a modem from then and carried out the installation using the guest account and had a No Internet Access message from my computer and thus I could not verify my line.

I then was told by Telkom technical support to use my ISP credentials to log on. I subsequently did that and received the same message from my computer as above. The technical support person said that they inputted the credentials on their side and it worked just fine. Their final resolution was to exchange my router for a new one.

Once I exchanged the DSL 2750U with the Netgear DGN2200, I setup and again received No Internet Access from my computer. I logged a fault on the line and the person called me and said that there is nothing wrong with the line and that I should call back technical support to reset my password. I have yet to do that.

I have already PM'ed TelkomZA and I am waiting for a reply. I just wanted to know if anyone in the community experienced a similar problem and if so, how was it resolved.

One more thing with regards to verification: I never received any SMSs or emails from Telkom with any order number. I find that quite strange.

1. You could ask Telkom to send someone out to you to do the installation. There could (probably most likely) an additional charge.
2. If you know someone else who has a ADSL account, try taking your router to their site and testing it there . This can be used to test the router and your login credentials. If your login credentials do not work with your router, then try the telkom guest account.
3. If your router and login credentials work at the alternative site, you could ask your friend to bring his router to your site and to test your ADSL link.

You could try posting screenshots of your router Internet set up page. There are some options that need to be set correctly.

There are a lot of other ADSL settings - I forget what they are. When I bought my Linksys router last year, I had to adjust those settings by hand until it worked. Take some screenshots of your router configuration page - I'll compare them to mine and can let you know what you need to change. That is probably the cause of your problems.

But yeah, Telkom... When I moved into my current house, I scheduled the line move, and they phoned me and arranged it for the following Tuesday. Tuesday comes, no call. So eventually I get hold of Telkom, and they said that they called me but that I said Tuesday was no good. That was a complete lie - they never called me! So they do sometimes close tickets to avoid work.
