Placed order with Afriboast(welcome to pure joy fiber) on Monday the 12th of April. Next morning early i started getting e-mails from them. First e-mail stating that i have to verify my account received on the following day, the 13th(the 1st of about 50 plus to still come...spamming and harassing me to death).
Same day i receive a phone call from Vumatel, Afriboasts's choice of fiber line installer. Vumatel tells me that they only have a free slot at 12 noon the following day to come and install the line. We agree upon that. Now i rearrange my schedule based on this, knowing i had to also go to the bank and look for this mysterious unique verification code, which i am told by Afriboast to look for. However, first headache. This so called unique verification code is not found on the bank statements as stated by Afriboast that it would be. So after drawing 3 bank statements(costing me money each time) from atm's , i then go in to the bank and speak to team members of ABSA(non bank tellers, but actually people higher up the food chain). Nada, zero, fokolie, nothing resembling this elusive unique verification code. In fact, whenever i mention this verification code, the ABSA personnel stared at me like i was some alien, speaking in foreign tongue to them. Cool, as most of us know; sometimes it takes a day or 2 for things to reflect in bank accounts...so i decided to comfort me with this thought and to try again the next day...keeping in mind that Vumatel scheduled to be at my place at 12 noon and that i had to juggle my day around that, in order to be there when they arrive.
Alas , here comes headache number 2. Vumatel arrives at my place at 8.15 am, instead of keeping to the time they chose, the previous day, that would suit them; being 12 noon. They sit in front of my gate, phoning me "we are here now for the installation". This throwing my whole day out, and i have to rearrange my schedule once again to suit them; in order for me to be there till they done so i can keep an eye on what they doing. Also a good thing i did, otherwise there might have been more damage to my property. I go outside and open up for them. Ask them questions as to what it all entails, where they will lay the cables, dig holes, make holes in the walls etc. I ask them if there is anything they need to get this all done, they should come and ask me. I show them where i would be and what window they can tap on to get my attention. I then go into my house to start making phone calls to cancel appointments with clients and or to try and reschedule appointments ; ones that have now been thrown out the window with Vumatel not keeping to their 12 noon appointment. These workers did come once to ask if i could give them access to electricity so they could use their drill to make holes.
While sitting in my bedroom, making phone calls; helloooo, here pops a visitor through my bedroom wall. They drilled into my bedroom. I go outside to see what is happening and tell them, they missed the roof; where they actually wanted to get into, and ended up drilling into my bedroom. So. here we have more expenses for me now. My skirting in my bedroom and wall has a whole right through to the outside. Besides the obvious expenses to replacing or patching the skirting in my bedroom, fixing or patching up the facial board on the outside where the other end of the one hole is; it also entails sanding down , repainting and moving the contents out of my bedroom to get this all done. So major inconvenience and where do i sleep ; hanging from the ceiling like a bat?
They realized their mistake and then started to proceed making a second whole. Watched them how they used no ruler, measuring tape etc. to calculate where to make the next hole. They did not even bother to come in to the house to see where they might be making their next hole. Most of the day is lost, and when they finish, they come to me: the very same guys who messed up my wall, bedroom etc and hand me papers that i have now to sigh and comment on their service(while these 4 guys whom i don't know from a bar of soap, who know where i live, are stranding next to me). So clearly i wrote anything to just get them away from there and so that i can get back to the banks and try yet again to find this elusive unique verification code.
Still no luck. More paying for more bank statements and still no verification code. Still getting e-mails telling me that i need to verify my banking details though.
Thursday the 15th of April. after contacting Afriboast and infroming them that i have been to the bank several times. This unique code is nowhere to be found. Informing them of the numerous Atm's i have tried, and actually going in to the bank and speaking to several banking officials and the payment of R1 that Afriboast brags about sending to one; in order for the verification code to reflect on the bank statement; also not showing yet. So now a guy from Afriboast mails back and all he does is write to me the same regurgitated bot message(same one, of about 20, i have been getting since Tuesday). So no help at all.
Later that Thursday, i go draw more bank statements, from various Atm's, and after the R1 deposit from Afriboast finally showing on the statements, but still no sign of their precious unique verification code; i then once again go in to the bank and speak to several banking officials. Still no luck so they give me numbers of other banking officials to phone. After 3 more phone calls and 3 more people trying to help; the last one managed to print and send me a banking statement where there is a reference number on. But still nothing even remotely close to this faaarking unique verification code Afriboast keeps referring to in all their spamming mails.
I get back home at 5pm on Thursday with my head held low and tried inputting this reference number and on the Afriboast client portal, under verify payment details; i get a message in GREEN stating that my payment details have been successfully verified . Of course there where about 5 more mails from Afriboast; same ones with one more mail from a human name too. All of them the same mail about verifying my banking details.
Next morning early, on Friday the 16th; i draw another bank statement and clearly see on it that Afrihost has deducted over R2500 in a debit order manner. This calculates to the exact amount to cover the Vuma installation, and the free router, delivery fee and UPS in my order. And this is where the story should have ended. But no. Get back home and the whole day long i still kept getting the same regurgitated e-mail about me needing to verify my banking details in order for them to proceed with my order. I decided to wait until the following day, before i mail back, in order to give them enough time to sort any delayed reactions out on their side regarding them already deducted the correct amount for all to have been paid and for it to then reflect on their side. Still getting the same harassment e-mails about payment verification for the remainder of that Friday. On Saturday, first thing in the morning, yet again, like clock work, my first, same harassment e-mail. This continued till midday Saturday and received a mail from another human over there too. I then replied to this human, that i am done with them all and they can send me their banking details and i will bank directly the money in to that account.....and then they can reimburse my money which they deducted on the Friday.
Once again they keep proving that they either do not actually read the e-mails you send to them or that they are just incapable of comprehending said e-mails. Why do i say this ? Well they just keep sending me the same regurgitated e-mails to harass me.Still happening every day and this is the 26th of April already. They have been told i don't want to work with them anymore after all their BS and lack of service, yet they sitting with over R2500 which they already deducted by manner of debit order and still have not send me my router and UPS(both of which i could have gotten elsewhere by just walking in any one of numerous PC shops around here).
I have been reading on a couple sites, all the complaints that clients past and present have about Afrihost. And these complaints are LEGION. Boggles the mind how a company can be so unprofessional. They seem to not realize that even though we might be hard up for 1gig fiber lines; they are just as hard up for our money. If enough of us walk way from them, then we can close any one of these fraudulent disservice companies.
"Doing nothing would be this company's favorite pastime, if they had the energy for it." That was taken from the Complaints Board. If it wasn't so spot on, then it would have been funny.
