Anyone else have this problem where the network bar is replaced by 'No Service'? My iPhone 4 does this occasionally and I have to restart my phone to regain service, airplane mode doesn't fix it, only a restart. Can't make calls or sms during this time. I have had my iPhone replaced, not for this reason, but even the previous one did this. It does this on average about once or twice every 2 weeks or so, sometimes more frequently. I've googled the problem and seems to be a common one, however I haven't seen any fixes...

Usually happens when you have 3G turned on, turn it off whenever you can and you will see some improvement. Also network coverage plays a huge role, might be that you are in a lowly covered area. Try using a different provider for the entire day and see if you get the same error

my blackberry does this, but apparently its water damage!

I don't think it's network related. I'm on MTN and have a Nokia as well that's also on MTN and the signal on the Nokia is fine when the iPhone has no service. Also this problem only started after updating to iOS 5.01.

I have Vodacom and never had this problem, take it back (I got Iphone)

I've just had the phone replaced and the previous one had the same issue. Google reveals that it's a fairly common problem which could be iOS related. It's not something that bothers me, happens every few weeks and a quick restart seems to fix it.
