I bought a DStv Explora yesterday and set it up myself. On first boot, the decoder downloaded the latest firmware, all channels and all PVR functions are working absolutely fine, but BoxOffice and CatchUP, as well as the TV guide, are not working.

When I check the tuners, Tuners 1 & 2 indicate a good strong signal and quality, but Tuner 3 generally sits at 0%, occasionally making a jump to 60-odd percent before dropping back to 0%.

I've checked all cables are secure.

Does anyone have any advice?

If you were not recording anything, tuner 3 is not being used

Perhaps it's only used when needed. Might be wrong but I think catch up and box office are pre-cached on the decoder so maybe it will use that tuner when it's downloading. The occasional blip might be to check for new content. Could be completely off base though :)

Hey Prof, i experience this myself. Was also wondering what it was used for. I think its only in operation when new content on Catchup\BoxOffice is available.

I have the same problem. Installed a new Explora 2 days ago. All works fine, but still have no TV guide, Catchup and Boxoffice. This is all via Tuner 3. However there is no signal on Tuner 3, which means nothing is being downloaded.
Multichoice ruled it as an 'installation problem'. What I dont understand is how Tuner 1&2 can work fine and there is no signal on Tuner 3.
yes it will only show signal when in use, but there is no Chatchup or TV guide available on my unit...

If there is no catchup or boxoffice you should get your installer in to double check cabling. As the EPG, catchup and boxoffice are all on that tuner. Though they should also slip in on tuner 2.

I have the same problem on Tuner 3... even after a second out-of-the-box Smart LNB was used...

did you guys have any luck in fixing the problem?

Reset to default seems to sort it out. Same if box office and catch up is giving shyt.

Dish alignment or LNB skew. I've fixed some marginal installations by swapping around the cables going into the switch, but not an ideal solution.
