I need some advice urgently.

I got my MyWireless modem about a month ago but I unfortunately get no signal in my area.

About 10km from where I live it is possible to get full signal.

I was wondering if I get an antenna on my roof will I be able to get signal from that base station which is approx 10km away.

What other options do I have to get signal
 
I am sure you will be able to get a signal with a "grid" antenna which you can purchase from www.powerband.co.za. Im not to sure about the technicalities but since you are more than 6km away from a basestation you might not get a good "return path" and will be unable to establish a connection althought you get a signal.

To be honest, if you outside the 5.7 Km range, you probably wont get signal, Antennas only help if your signal strengh is low in a covergae area.

If you are outside the 5.7 km radius and the Node is not set on extended range then an antenna will not help you.
If you are 6 to 8 ks then maybe but no guarentees.

How can you get online outside 5.7? Is that not the maximum sending distance of the modem (in clear air). So if the tower is set at 24km (or whatever) then what would the point of that be? The modem will know that it can receive signal but then cannot respond.
 
The modem on its own in "clear air" and LOS, can send up to 15 km.
