no sound - certain apps

2 weeks ago, the sound disappeared on my TV turner card, it didn't bother me as i thought i needed to re-install the s/w as the sound futher worked 100% on my games, dvds etc

now last night i played FEAR, which i loaded a few weeks back and play every few nights, and the sound was also gone.

strange thing is the sound, when the game loads plays ie. intro music but no sound when you play the actual game

so reinstalled winfast PVR and FEAR, but with no luck. sound on all other games, dvds and musicmatch works fine.

any suggestions

Not running ASUS Gamer OSD by any chance?

don't know what that is, so i doubt i am using it.

i even tried a system restore, but the problem still persists.
