The 155 helpdesk jockey says I should get a PeeCee or petition Apple to provide the bluetooth script for a SE K750. Are they passing the buck or am I domed to connect via cable at 2400bps?

It Works!

Hi

No need. Thank Ross - he's helped many an apple enthusiast such as myself.:D

Download scripts from here www.taniwha.org.uk. You will see scripts for SE gprs and 3g phones - you want the gprs one. Unfortunately if you are running tiger, you need to download stuffit as well:mad: - link on site. Expand the CID files to /library/modem scripts(hard drive/library/modem scripts - not /home/(user)/modem scripts). You will need to have admin rights. Then setup your bluetooth modem connection as use the CID-5 script - it writes to your phone and therefore needs an unlocked account(CID1 and 2 on phone is normally locked) Remember to use 'internet', instead off number.Text file with instructions is included.

Post if you still have any problems and I'll be glad to help.I've managed to get most phones to work via this script an its a real boon. Only phones that don't seem to work lately are the new motorola's as no services can be discovered.

Regards
VodaGuy

Got this off the interent

"For getting the GPRS connection work with Bluetooth on the Mac, you should get the scripts from Ross Barkman and read the instructions."

You don't need any script for a SE device.

To use your SE device with a Mac, configure the account in the device (e.g. configure an account for its email client), and check the assigned Connection ID.

Then select, for example, the "Ericsson T39 9.6k" modem, disable both checkboxes, and set the dial number to *99***(ConnectionID)#.

As simple as this :)

I found that the scripts work better for me. The Ericsson T39 9.6K modem or Ericsson Infrared modems always resulted in lower speeds on the 3G network.

There is also a commercial solution produced by Novamedia http://www.novamedia.de BUT it costs some serious Euro.

Only problem I ever had with the scripts was that sometimes it would refuse to connect with my SE phone, but that was fixed when Apple released a firmware update for Bluetooth recently.

Viva la Mac :)

It's all working now thanks to all the help! I used the scripts but the key was entering the phone number in the Bluetooth connection screen as "Internet". The GPRS service was down for a while yesterday which made me scratch my head for a while. I also upset the settings on the phone and then the 'dof ouk' at Vodaphone sent me ones which didn't work  so I went for the SE site (always reliable!)

The connection speed is not displayed but it is a bit faster than using just the cable to the phone. Now I need to work out how much all this functionality costs. Thanks again everyone! :p
