No Coverage for neotel!
as for the rest not to sure but just read up on neotel more maybe u will see the answer for your self.

Lol imagine everyone walking around with that big-a$$ neotel phone typing sms's in the street :D

From the Neotel FAQ:

Will a NeoConnect device work in another city (in another area code)?

Neotel’s fixed mobile service is offered within code areas, and not across multiple area codes. Each NeoConnect service has a geographic number associated with its area (e.g. 011, 012, 021, 031).

So it's not completely the same as a cell phone. You can probably use it as a "cell phone" in the same city, but it's not going to work country wide.

"noetel vs cell compamys"
That is typed so horribly wrong, did you do it on purpose? It's "Neotel" and "Companies", and some punctuation would be appreciated.
You ask why everyone has not gone from the cellphone companies to Neotel, but do you realize that Neotel is not a mobile operator?
And yes, both use wireless, but not the same wireless technologies, and Neotel still has limited coverage, so that prevents people from signing up.

The drawbacks on Neotel apart from coverage is its not mobile and there line rental fees. Fixed line has its pros and cons and wireless has its pros and cons.
Hence cellular networks are investing in converged solutions.
