Ive followed MBB for sometime, but this is the first time Ive not found an easy answer on the forum.

Recently I bought property that had a restaurant and a bar on it, that have existed for roughly 20 years.

A year ago, a rehab center opened next door (Maybe 400 meters to the property line from my bars front door) and constantly threaten me with his "police friends" if i go over 100 decibels, as he claims that it is residential area, where as its actually farm lands and commercial property with random small holdings in between.

Do i need to worry about legal action? Didnt he need permission to open a rehab center next to an established bar?

Its really a pain to have some idiot complain about a normal friday night in a bar.

Are there any special conditions on your liquor licence?

eg. "Music played on the premises must not be heard if you are 50 meters away"

(mine had that!!!!)

No restrictions on my licence at all, and now he's flipped the story to 45 decibels; which is the law in residential arrears in Cape Town. Not North West province. Also, I was interviewing DJ's the other day (During the day) and by chance got my hands on a Decibel meter. Never pushed over 80Decibels and we were pumping it. Considering the distance and my usual music levels; this guys just a prick.
