I have a few fellow.workers who eat rather loudly and they slurp their tea or coffee.

Its really annoying to have to listen to all the inappropriate noises.

So how do you tell someone to keep it quite?

Also do any of you eat or drink noisily? And have you been told off?

Except for slurping the noises they make don't get to me. The smell of their food bothers me more. Smells so nice and expensive.

/cries just a little before thinking of letting go.

I think they should go somewhere else, where I can't hear them...

You are the one who has chosen to take offense, you are the one with an issue, not them. People are people. If its an issue, move away from them.

I agree, Im ok with the sound they make. The smell however can sometimes be very very tempting.

Doesn't bother me. Drives my gf insane when others do it though.

Guilty! Not that I slurp or chew loudly but rather have the unfortunate habit of humming while eating something delicious. I don't even realise it until someone points it out.

Most irritating for the people around me since it's not even a tune to a song...rather sounds like the drone of a model airplane.

Basically you use your mouth and vocal cords to say a few words to them. It's not that hard. Something like:

"Don't you guys have manners? Eat with your mouth closed."

+1, but disobedience and eating with your mouth open go hand in hand it appears :(

Well, if they're disobeying company rules by eating at their desks then make an issue of that. Either way you go about it you're going to come off as an *********. Which is what you are if you can't manage to put up with minor annoyances from the peole aground you.

I think quite a few of the posters in this thread are noisy eaters, considering the defense they are giving for "them".. ;)

If I were a noisy eater, tough **** if you don't like it, why should I go eat somewhere else if there is no company policy against it.

That said, I do find it annoying when others eat loud. Instead of bitching and moaning, I just put on some headphones that cover my ears, and listen to some excellent trance music and go on with my work. Issue solved.

I asked the guy if he is able to slurp louder or chew louder as it causes an interesting vibe in the office. Well, he got the hint.
