Noisy pump in converted solar geyser

I wonder if anyone has any advice

About a year ago I converted my old Geyser in the roof to an evacuated tube solar geyser. They installed a pump on the pipe leading to the geyser to pump water from the evacuated tubes into the geyser. The issue is that the Geyser is right above my main bedroom and so when it kicks on I can hear it from the room so if I am trying to sleep in some mornings the thing starts waking me up at 08h30 every morning and then it switches on every two minutes.

What I wanted to find out is if the pump is supposed to make such a whirring sound that you hear in the room below? and if so is there a way to quieten or dampen the sound down without risk of overheating the pump?

I have managed to live with the pump for quite a while but with the lockdown and with me sleeping in more later days in the morning it has just been a pain in my butt.

I am even thinking about replacing it with another form of solar system that is quieter.

My pump also makes a whirring noise but not as loud as to wake me up or keep me from getting to sleep again. My wife is more irritated by it than me though. It's not very often i would be able to complain as I am normally up very much earlier.

What make of pump have you got?

The Grundfos might be a bit less noisy at 35 Db, but at a cost.

Thanks stokstert, I am not sure what pump I have maybe I should climb in the roof and check, I wasn't sure you actually got different makes of pumps for the solar system, I thought it would just be a specific pump for that specific package.

Maybe I will also get the guys out to come out and put a quieter pump in, cause mine is definitely louder than 35-42Db

I have the same setup. Bought the house like this. Mine gets loud sometimes like a droning noise. Irritating. Had the plumber remove and check if it's faulty and didn't find anything.
