So I'm due for an upgrade in 3 weeks.
I did ask a similar question regarding three other new phones but this is different.

Should I get the new Nokia 5 or Should I take the LG G4 (As my mom is also due for an upgrade towards the end of September and she won't need it) and just continue with a contract sim only plan ?

The LG G4 has already had it's bootloop problem fixed under warranty.

I had the G4.
after the bootloop has been fixed it is a good phone.

if you are not a power user, and play no games, and basically only call and whatsapp, maybe youtube a little, then stick to the g4 and remain contract free.

I am none of those things, I have an LG G6, and a 20 000mAh power bank. I charge the power bank twice a week, and I charge my phone 3 or 4 times a day.
its not a problem wiht the phone, its pokemon go, that I have open and connected to a pokemon go plus for 10 to 12 hours a day.

on top of that, I still youtube, play other games, browse, chat and call. the G4 would litrally burn though my desk if I was using it still.

that being said, I see no need for the Nokia 5. there are way better XioMi phones for cheaper than that, and the midrange huwai that compete in that bracket are also more bang for your buck. I feel the Nokia 5 is too expensive for its features, just like the Nokia 8 is too far behind the flagships its competing with.

Thanks, so thats +1 for the G4

I currently have a Xiaomi Redmi 2 Pro and not really keen on going back to the brand. I haven't included any of Huawei's because their budget midrange offerings lack any sort of screen protection ( i'm not going to put a screen protector) and updates are not guaranteed. I choose the Nokia 5, to be honest i'm weakling when it comes to Aluminium phones (not the ones with plastic caps at the top and bottom)

Redmi pro 2 is a low range phone. The Note series or the Mi are good. I used a redmi Note 3 when my G4 was in for repair. The only thing i missed was the camera.
