I recently upgraded to the Nokia 5230. I guess my question is applicable to the 5800 as well so a 5800 user should be able to tell.

These phones have around 80MB internal memory. Am I supposed to be able to use the full 80MB? Because I only have about 50MB free memory with apps uninstalled. What is using the remaining 30MB?

Second question is about Nokia Maps (latest version 3.03). Does the turn by turn navigation notify you in time to turn left or right or whatever? Sometime it works okay and other times it only notify me after I have turned.

I have never been able to utilise the full 80MB. Always been less available, regardless of firmware version installed. I think the most ever was around 65MB.

The Nokia maps v3.03 look nice, but need more work. Often freezes when driving long distances, turn-by turn navigation refuses to work flawlessly, co-ordinates slightly off the actual position at times. But almost there. Like Nokia - almost there, but never arriving.

Thanks for the reply. I'm planning on installing the latest Map for SA (50MB) on my phone tomorrow. Hopefully that helps.

I have a question about the 5230. While the phone is ringing when receiving a call, the ringing tone's volume gets turned down and the callers name gets said out loud in a voice that reminds me of Stephan Hawking. I almost dropped the phone the first time it happened. Gave me quite a fright. Anyway, where the hell can I turn this 'feature' of? I've been through all the menus but don't see anything.

Ah, nevermind, I found the setting under profiles. Now I can relax :D
