NOKIA 5800 Tips Tricks & Apps Thread.....

I just got my phone and moved over from a 6110 Navigator. loving the 5800!!
Just one question - after I popped my sim in, I got a flashing envelope in the top right corner, tapping it brings up 'sim memory full' - anyone know how to access/fix this??
 
V21.0.025 OTA is available (MTN). 3.4MB download, updated smoothly. *#0000#, Options, Check for Update.
 
V21.0.25 also available ota for Vodacom (if you've already upgraded to V20)
*#0000# and options check for update, its 2.7mb.

Some things I've noticed:
No cosmetic changes to the UI,
but the speed has increased dramatically!
The UI with theme effects on is fluid and looks great!!
Screen seems more sensitive as well, you need very little finger pressure to highlight or click on something.
Scrolling seems smoother and less likely to accidentally choose a contact etc that you dont want to choose.
Camera module loads quicker - definately noticeable.
Didnt notice any picture improvement tho, it's indoors so most pics are crappy anyway..

I read in some other threads that your warranty is void after doing an OTA update.
Is this true?
 
OTA? If my phone allows it then I don't see a problem with it. And the new firmware v21 does seem to make it a bit more nippy I think. At least my gps seems to be working again.
 
my phone is not unbranded but on v20 ... it does however tell me there is no update available for me ...
Do i need to unbrand to get it?
 
OTA = Over the Air..
Yeah... think im just gonna do it.. phone has a few bugs..
hopefully this update fixes some of them
 
I just updated my phone from V20xxx to V21xxx. Don't really notice a significant difference... Album art is bigger than before in landscape mode but that's about it... Would be useful if album art would show up in the 1st place. All my songs have album art and show up in itunes but not all come up on my phone. About 1 in every 10 songs that i have show album art on my phone.
 
This update has really made my phone much faster and the screen responds much quicker to touch instructions.
 
Strange, I can seem to update. Checked using both OTA and Nokia software updater and it says I have the most recent version: 20.0.0.12 which is the software version that came with the phone.

My fone came with V10, i upgraded it to v20 using the NSU, but now I cant update to V21, it says no updates avail. Im on Vodacom btw. So how are some vodacom subscribers able to upgrade.
 
If anyone figures out why some people get the update problem, and other don't, do tell...
Firmware upgrades are serious matters in my household :)
 
One of the bug fixes I have noticed with the V21.0.025 firmware update is that the envelope now shows open after reading a SMS. Don't know why some people are having a problem upgrading OTA, I upgraded yesterday morning with no problem and I used my ADSL connection with WIFI. I have a MTN phone though.
