NOKIA 5800 Tips Tricks & Apps Thread.....

New Nokia Messaging now support html emails

This has just been released, Nokia Messaging now supports html formatted emails.

To get this update for Nokia 5800 XM phones go to:

email.nokia.com using the Native browser on the phone _not_ Opera Mini.

Install the new version, you will have to reboot the phone after the install.

At last, no more long, funny urls without images :D

Actually does look good, there is an option to turn off html as well, if that is what you prefer.

Well done Nokia ;)

What are you talking about? I installed the update but I don't see any difference. It still doesn't display the images

I found this site if anyone is interested in getting certificates and keys to sign unsigned symbian apps. I'm not sure if it works yet. I just registered today so it should take about 24 to 48hours according to the site.

Hmmmm, ok seeing is believing :D

Check these Screensnaps and all will be revealed

I moaned and moaned on Nokia Forums about this and installed it immediately it was announced, so while it is not perfect, it is still way better than previously.

Nokia is really doing great stuff for the humble 5800XM :D

Previously it showed html formatted emails with long hideous URLs and no images to be seen with html tags all over, now it Rocks :)

Thanks Nokia ;)

Looks really good. I'll play around with it when I have some time and see if mine works

Only crap thing about Nokia Messaging is that once it's out of beta, it will become subscription-based. :( I'm using it at the moment to try out the new version.

Well just in time on the update, I was thinking of buying the Profimail software.

Lets see how long the NM trial runs for, and how the software improves with time, who knows, if it is really awesome then I'll pay the subscription, or else just get the iPhone, still no stock, sounds like a broken record :D

If you are using the inbuilt old text based email client, remove all the email accounts and just leave the SMS part, then the new Nokia Messaging mail notification will reflect your choice of inbox on the home screen.

Best way to do this is to uninstall the older Nokia Messaging app, shut down the phone, maybe take out the battery, then power up again.

Go to the email.nokia.com site via your PC and set up your email account there, then choose the option on top right to _re-install_ and then download the software by clicking the link sent via SMS to your phone, that will get you the latest version ie 10.01(13)

You will be asked to restart your phone, then you know it is the right version, previous software did not do that.

Hope this all makes sense :D

Why can't I play any Mp4's on my 5800? Is there a codec or programme I could download to play Mp4's.

Some of my mp4 videos can't play. Missing codec.

Does anyone know of a video player for 5800 that plays .wmv videos? Or a free wmv to mp4 converter?

www.imserba.com/forum

it's a forum based site with tons of apps,u will need to hack ur phone with HelloOx to get the full benefit of all the apps...

Also Coreplayer does not run on S60 V5,there is a new version that is being developed that will make it work...

Smartmovie does work though...
