NOKIA 5800 Tips Tricks & Apps Thread.....

to update to v31 do u need to use NSU? and what program would you recommend to change the product code? getting sick of waiting for MTN

NSS (Nemesis), without a doubt the easiest for me. Installed, plugged in the phone, changed the code. Simple. And yeah, v31 is a 133MB download over NSU. Must be something to do with having OVI Maps on board.

The easiest is JAF, i have a link in oe of my other threads, will see if i can find it, have heard that NSS doesn't always work.

use JAF to change product code, restart your phone, then download latest NSU, then do the update through NSU, 133mb download, sometimes a very slow connection. And don't forget to either plug in the charger or ensure full battery

oh bugger, trying to do the upgrade and it keeps failing saying phone is losing connection :(

If you open Ovi Suite, does it say that the phone is not connected in the right mode?

dont even have ovi suite installed, but the update worked on my other computer so all is well

I'm having a problem with my phone, got it last week and updated to V30.0.011, or something like that, firmware OTA

Over the last couple of days the auto-rotate randomly stops working and i have to go to the settings, turn auto-rotate off and then reboot the phone and turn auto-rotate on again, any way i can fix this annoying problem?

The phone is from MTN btw, so i can't update to the V31 firmware

Plug it into NSU, see if their are any other updates available.

Do a backup, then do a hard reset.

It doesn't find any updates.

V31 is the latest right? From what i've read here i need to change my phones product code so i can get the latest update because mtn is full of BS

Ok, so once i change my product code, update to V31, i can change it back to the original product code again and act as if nothing happened If it has to be RMA'd right?

Arrrghh! Nevermind, f*** it!

Got home just now, switched the phone on and it just stays at the screen with the blue nokia logo, it doesn't do anything else, removed battery for 20 minutes and tried booting up again and the same thing, i think i just got one from a bad batch :(

v31.101 is the latest. Changing your product code does not invalidate your warranty, check my previous post from the Nokia Store Manager at Vodaworld

Happened twice to me. Take out the sim and the memory card as well. Leave for about 30min
