Anyway, I'm now using an awesome new homescreen. For those who want a simple way to get it, do this:

1. Take your pick of the one you want from the first post here:

(I'm using number 7, Orange & OraTsu HS (Nokia Icons) V1.10 by e-ZaRs)

2. Get it signed with a developer cert. before you can install it. Go here to do it: https://www.symbiansigned.com/app/page/public/openSignedOnline.do
You will need the IMEI of your phone. They will give you a file which will only install on your phone.

2A. Alternatively, if that doesn't work, go to http://cer.opda.cn/en/ and apply for a developer certificate. Once you have one, you can click "Signing" on your certificate and sign online, or you can download the certificate and tools do sign it yourself on your PC/phone.

3. Install the signed sis/sisx file on you phone. Then go into Settings -> Personal -> Home screen -> Home screen theme. Choose OraTsu for the customisable home screen that supports widgets. You may see a some other new options there which may or may not work. Try them to see if there's something you'll like.

Now you should have an awesome new home screen. Click the up arrow on the bottom right to add widgets. There are 3 pages of widgets you can access by scrolling left/right.
You can hold you finger on a placed widget to delete it, move it, or access options of it has any.
You an add as many widgets as you like, and you can scroll up and down the page.

Hi Guys
When I connect my 5800 XpressMusic to my PC via the USB cable the following comes up :" Found New MTP Device" and then nothing happens it also appear that my phone freezes

Any help/assistance would be appreciated, thanks.

Excuse the late reply.

My fix to this on Windows 7: Remove Memory Card, connect phone, the MTP drivers will install. Some people say this is an issue with Windows Media Player interference, but I haven't verified it.

Then reinsert your memory card, do a backup of contents and format memory card on phone. If you connect it again it should work fine. I suggest you reinstall all apps though, my personal opinion is that certain applications cause this to happen. Since doing steps described I've had no issues. Although my phone never froze, I did get a driver failed installing message each time ;)
 
When I access facebook full site using the phone browser the phone freezes and I have to force it to close. All other websites are fine only facebook. Anyone know a fix for this?

The facebook chat app seems to screw with phone browsers. Go to touch.facebook.com instead. If that's down try m.facebook.com.

I use opera mini, but at the games I've been using the facebook app from Ovi to upload photos. Try it out.
 
My stylus has become quite loose, and keeps falling out.
already lost one.
Anyone else having this problem?
Anyone know of a fix?
 
I know I'm triple-posting, but these were all separate issues.

I've bought a licence for SPB Mobile Shell - that's how impressed I am with it. At $29.95 it's not a cheapie, either, but it has totally revolutionised my phone (and how I use it). It comes with a 14-day trial, and is totally worth checking out for a 5800. The latest version took care of the memory hog issues to a large degree.

K, so v60 is confirmed as coming out, sometime mid-November. I think Homescreen widgets may finally be on the menu.

In the meantime, I flashed my phone using my trusty laptop (Win7x64), this firmware and this tut. Works beautifully.
