Ha ha it is only a day since the last post! Hardly requiring an apology! ;)

This phone does look cool though, although I am in two minds about the whole two presses thing. I understand the logic as it allows scrolling on screens by running your finger over it etc and probably helps with accidental presses, but watching the review it started looking frustrating. The reviewer was making it quite clear that he was pressing twice though so not sure if it was just for effect that he did this and you can actually double press a lot quicker (like double click on a mouse).

Another excellent feature is the sensor on the front that senses when you have the phone against your face, and temporarily locks it, so you can't accidentally press something with your cheek while chatting.

Can you scroll by just dragging your finger or do you have to press twice for that? I thought your could press (drag) once to scroll and press twice to select.

Oh... well.... sorrrrry! Not all of us are Apple fanboys so we can't be expected to know. Whether the iPhone has it or not it is still a great feature.

Should we compare the rest of the 5800 features with the iPhone or would that really just be a complete one sided affair?!?

Yip, that's what I meant. Running your finger on the screen scrolls and does not select.

Check out those review videos above if you have some international cap. Very neat.

When choosing a contact from your address book too it pulls up the full qwerty keyboard. The phone then works out what other key presses could possibly follow the first letter and reduces the keyboard to just show these letters and so forth.

But i suppose the iPhone does this already.............. :rolleyes:

:( no more bandwidth, I'll check it early next month. I'm torn between waiting or not. How do they say the sound quality is?

They touch briefly on all features in those videos reviews and play some music but do not test it objectively. However on another site they say this :

As befits an Xpress Music phone, the sound quality on the 5800 is comparable to the SE Walkman range. The speakers are very loud for a phone of its size, remarkable considering all you see of the speakers are slivers of metal about less than a quarter-inch wide.

It is called the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic so I imagine sound will be great.
 
Maybe I should wait then. . . Don't know if I'll be able to afford it though.
