Maybe your message memory is full? I've had that thingy happen a couple of times, but sometimes for different reasons or whatever. Not always sure what causes it.
Have you tried turning it off and on?

With the older type of phones (3330) the icon will flicker when the message memory are is full.

Otherwise it might be that the message area is corrupted?

Try switching your memory (if it is possible) from memory card to phone (or vice-versa) to see if that will help.

tried it, nothing. I took it to a Vodacom shop, and they also said its a software problem. I will be sending the phone back, and then they should be sending it back.

Did you try it without a sim card in the phone?

I got this too on one simcard, because the SIM messages were full :D

i.e. Messaging -> Options -> SIM Messages

Cool phone though.
Talking navigation is nice;
Having a dedicated GPS for car is kinda stupid when you can have a phone with the same functionality;

Nokia 6220 is an almost identical featured phone with a different physical form FYI;

Do you guys prefer Agps to the normal GPS on the 6110?

It has Agps and "normal gps";
Agps can help to lock on your position ("login to gps") faster;

So, ja, anything to make it faster is cooler :)
