I have 2 MTN SP contracts in my name, one for my wife and one for my step-son. Both those contracts have been eligible for upgrades since the 11th of July 2009.
My step-son's one went relatively smooth, walked into a MTN shop that had stock of the Nokia 5800 and did the deal. (Activation of the new contract took a couple of days, but not too bad.)
However, my wife wants the Nokia 6700 Classic, and since middle of July none of the shops on the East Rand had any stock! We then tried MTN Direct, and they have been giving us the run-around for nearly 2 weeks now. When, today, I (eventually) get through to someone who would actually try to help me, they tell me that "It might be a month before they get stock"... I emailed the completed forms through on the 25th of August already - no feedback from them at all. No response to emails. Dialling the numbers that was in the email they sent me (the one with the blank forms) is no help, as nobody answers it.
The booklet that we looked at stated the deals as being from the 13th of July to the 30th of September 2009. Yet, despite what is advertised, nobody has stock of this phone.
Where and what is the problem? Why do MTN SP advertise a phone and package and then they are unable to deliver? Why do I have to beg and battle for some kind of feedback as to availability etc?
