Nokia 9 set to launch soon

The Nokia 9 is expected to be released on 24 February at Mobile World Congress 2019, and various leaks on TechRadar provide a good idea of what will be on offer.

Perhaps the most notable rumour is that the Nokia 9 will include five camera lenses on its back and a dual-lens camera on the front.

Interested to see if Nokia manages to keep up with the rest of the big brands out there.

I'm still enjoying my Sirocco...
Me too. I am currently using Huawei but I still have a soft spot for Nokia.

Pity about the design of this phone, would have loved it without bezels.

My current favourite phone is the Vivo Nex Dual Display. I wish and hope that becomes the standard design among all the manufacturers, or at least the ones I use most seeing that the phone is not available in South Africa- the last I checked.

Does anyone have anecdotal evidence that people want this? I've never encountered someone who has wanted their phone to have so many camera lenses so they can take slightly better pictures of their food. Surely if you care that much about your photos, you would buy a DSLR with real lenses that fit your purpose.

I feel the same with the crazy specs they are shoving into phones now. They boast these high benchmark scores for the flagship phones, but the people who can actually afford the crazy prices for them are most likely the people who use their phone for light browsing and some phone calls. Having a R30k phone that can run Fortnite at a stable 30fps seems like something a person who can afford a R30k phone really couldn't care about.

It's social media and "content creators" that are demanding these phones. If the price is right, people will cough up the dough for it.

The smartphone market is not growing as a result phone makers are charging more for premium devices so that they can maintain profit levels

The Nokia 9 is unlikely to offer users a 3.5mm headphone jack however, instead relying on Bluetooth earphones and headphones for enhanced listening
