nokia e70 s/w upgrade, where

so i think my cell has some sort of malware on it. i got the phone from my dad, unwated upgrade.
but now the scroll botton will only move up and right, so i am thinking its a s/w issue
so i took it too nokia in vodaworld, but they wont touch it, cause its not a vodacom phone

....so where can i take it, as i don't want to take it to the shop, as they send it away and i'll be without a phone for weeks

mmm...thx waterbound. saw the nokia s/w updater on their site, but wants sure its what i was looking for...

...as i only have dial up at home, thus it will be a long d/l - and waste of time if it wasn't what i needed

Have you tried a simple "Factory Reset" via the settings menu?

As far as I am aware Vodacom never released the E70 so they really wouldn't be able to help.

As far as I am aware Version 3.06 is the latest firmware for the E70. As a rule upgrades behind the decimal point (i.e. 3.02 to 3.21) are minor and usually revolve around network name changes and/or extra network names. Upgrades prior to the decimal point (i.e. 2.11 to 3.02) are usually worth the effort. Use the code *#0000# to find out what version you currently have.

My first suggestion would be to cruise the setup menu and preform a "factory reset" and try things again.

Even so, I think your problem sounds hardware related.

Not sure this works on the E70? But it can't do any harm trying!

12345 is the default SECURITY code unless you have changed it.
