Nokia gets new logo

Finnish 5G equipment maker Nokia Oyj has redesigned its logo to stop people from associating it with mobile phones — a business it left almost a decade ago.

The brand revamp, announced on Sunday, comes alongside a set of new strategic pillars intended to enable faster growth as the world increasingly adopts fifth-generation mobile technologies.

Now they look like a Chinese knockoff.

Looks Scandinavian. Just need some dark colours. Amazing that they keep on going trying for the brand still to work.

Ok. The thing I don't get about this trend of trimming away letters like this, is the brand name is completely unrecognizable to someone who doesn't know the brand. Isn't the point of a logo to also be something that someone can see on a billboard and remember when they get home?

If I'd never seen this before - is it AOCIA? AOKIA? VOKIA? NOCIA? NOKIA? Looks cool, but just seems a bit like it misses the point of a logo.

Nokia unveils Pure UI, a new user interface design language

The Nokia Design Team has crafted a new user interface design language dubbed Pure UI. This is intended to be used on Nokia phones, of course, but also all kinds of other Nokia products.

The design is intended to be consistent, flexible and future-proof and has a clean, minimalistic look, which is the leading design trend right now. There are multiple components, starting with templates and guidelines that determine the overall look.

A major part of the new look is the Nokia Pure typeface, which will be used throughout the UI.

I’m confused, I thought the new logo was meant to separate the networking company from the phone brand owned by HMD. Which one is doing this now?
