Nokia is back with a new cellphone

If I'm getting a phone like this then the battery should be the top spec here.
 
Oh dear. Might just have to bin my smartphones and get one of these. I need to do something drastic to free myself from smartphone addiction.
 
2G only dumb phones should be made illegal. The operators should refuse to order this crap. The idea should be to get people off 2G and onto 3G/LTE, not encourage new 2G only handsets to enter the market and suck up valuable spectrum :mad:

The device is available in single-SIM and dual-SIM versions, and includes an FM radio, headphone jack, and front and rear cameras.

See, now a headphone jack is being used as a selling point! Great job Apple :p

Edit: This thing seriously has 16MB RAM? and a 0.3MP camera?

With nice smartphones selling for under R1000, I can't imagine this device from Nokia has a real market.

There is still a market for these type of phones in developing markets in some parts of Asia / Middle East / Africa.

I have a R150 Alcatel as a spare backup.

Why?

I want a phone that has the battery to last me a week. I need it to phone, receive calls and SMS's. I have a PC for the other crap. I would buy such a phone if the battery lasts a week on a charge.

Agreed - I use a cheap Nokia for these reasons.
The same no. gets my 2nd factor authentication SMS's as well.


EDIT : Currently using a Nokia X2-05 which I paid R200 for, new from Ackermans - was the last one in the shop, and at the time they were just trying to get rid of their stock of this phone.

My Samsung champs battery only lasts 2 weeks these days. Six years ago, when it was new, it lasted a month.
