Negative features :

- only Internal 4 GB, no memory card slot.
- only 256 MB RAM
- only Microsoft Windows 7.8 (therefore no upgrading to WP8)
- Standard battery, Li-Ion 1300 mAh (BP-3L) - suppose a bigger battery can't be expected for what must be regarded as (Lumia) entry-level.

Given the specs, I have been aiming at getting the cheapest WP (in preparation of purchasing a Win8 hybrid PC/tablet) so I think I made the right decision to buy the Lumia 610.

The 610 is best even now because it is getting the 7.8 update (new ones ship with it apparently). The 610 also has a pretty good design and has been on the market for long. Therefore, it (the 610) being long in the tooth, is going to be the cheapest WP around.

Hoping to get my 610 this week.

Too late. I've already ordered my 610. I know I can cancel it but the facts are very much in the 610's favour.

The main point is that I do not expect the 620 to come cheap. At best, it will be competing with the SIII mini which is going for about R225/mth and has more or less the same specs. The 820 competes with the HTC 8X and SIII. You know that the 920 is in a league of its own right?

So, the 610 is the best compromise for me. I am sacrificing the phone for a Win8 hybrid PC so I am going for the cheapest WP phone.
