Anyone have this phone? Impressions, reviews? I'm thinking of getting it for MrsC but worried about the low end specs - 800mhz and 256mb. Looks like it's missing some key apps as a result - Skype is a bummer but I guess we can live without it. Seems really well made and good value otherwise, especially as CellC offers it for r149 on 50/50/100.
 
I also thought this phone looks pretty cool. I'd also like input from anyone who has one.
 
At that price it can't be beat.
It isn't as good as the Lumia 800, but you wouldn't expect it to be given the price

Wipes the floor with it. The original Wildfire is what, 400mhz, with a 340x240 screen. The Wildfire S is 600mhz with 320x480. The 610 is 480x800 with 800mhz processor. Plus hardware is much nicer overall.
 
This is now the only Windows Phone I've never used. Sorry about that :-/.
Whats the price difference for the 710? Would it not be worth getting that instead?

The 710 is probably better but I'm particularly interested in the R149 deal from CellC with 50/50/100mb. The equivalent 710 deal is R229, which is significantly more for only a bit extra specs.

Anyway I reckon I'm getting this. For MrsC's needs it's perfect. For the price it just looks so much slicker and better built than any equivalent Android handset.

Well we got it today and I'm using it to type this. Really classy phone for the price. Nice thin, solid construction. And free Nokia drive. Even the earbuds are a step up from the normal dross.

I saw a deal at CNA which offers the phone for R1999 with some cool new age head phones, you know those large ones that the young guys are wearing on the streets these days.

I like the 610's design. I think Nokia messed up with the 710's design.

You made the right decision buddy. Hope you & wifey enjoy it. Just don't hog it.

I am thinking of getting a 900 when I upgrade in Jan because I think it is a cool phone and it will be cheaper than Nokia WP8 phones. By that time I am sure the 610 will be going for R89/mth on TopUp on MTN and the 900 will be R179/mth on TopUp.

I can live with WP7.8. I will go big on the Win8 tablet and by that I mean I'd do anything reasonable to get my hands of a Surface. If the Surface (RT) reaches SA shores and it is R350/mth with a 2GB data package, I'm sold.
 
Yea very happy indeed. In fact I'm a bit jealous of it. I've put my SGS1 up for swapsies for a WP7 device if anyone is keen.
