Nokia N8 Vs HTC Desire HD

HI i am looking at getting a new phone and im currently stuck between choosing the
Nokia N8 or
HTC desire HD.

the thing thats winning me over to the Nokia, is the fact that it has a FM transmitter,HDMI output.

what i like about the Desire is the andriod operating system, which means i have a lot of apps to play around with.

which one do you think i should be looking at?
 
N8 hands down

If the mega camera on the N8 appeals to you & would fill a need otherwise left void, go for it. Otherwise the DHD has it beat on just about every front.

The Nokio has a paltry 600 Mhz CPU (read midrange phone), how the heck do you want to compare that with a high-end phone?? :wtf:

Oh, and the Desire HD has stereo FM onboard.

The Ovi maps seems properly sorted these days, especially since the announcement of free realtime traffic etc.
My advice, play with both to see how they are. I'm sure you'll be very happy with your new Desire HD ;)
 
N8 comes with extra cool stuff like kokzn pointed out. But for everything else it just doesn't match the high end smartphones.
Personally I'd go for the Galaxy S over the DHD but that's personal preference.

He's referring to the FM transmitter, not an FM radio. If that's not what you were referring to then my apologies :)

I think you're right Mike, that's most probably what he meant.

Will save you a few bucks, cos it was like a R499 add-on for my iPhone. But the quality has never been good, I rather use my car's auxiliary input to listen to tunes on my iPhone.
 
Oh wow!! I didn't know the DHD had a FM transmitter. I use always use the FM transmitter on my current Nokia N900 all the time. Works pretty well.

I'd still choose Android over Symbian any day. Just for the amount of free apps on the Android Market place. The OVI store has always been lacking. The only bit of interest I have in a future Nokia phone is perhaps OVI Maps with free navigation. I miss that.

And I'm sure I read that with the DHD, you can actually download the maps to your phone, so that you don't have to use data when on the road. Just not sure about voice navigation, I know it's available, just not sure in this country though.
 
ja the DHD doesnt have a FM transmitter. guess ill just have to wait for the DHD to come out so i can play around with it.
i have already played with the nokia nad i liked it. just need the comparism. the DHD maps that are loaded down to the phone, is that the tom tom maps that come pre-installed?
 
Some conglomeration of TomTom and Route66. The SA maps are still horrid w.r.t. POIs at this point, though. The interface is also very simplistic.

I'm sticking to NDrive at this point.
 
isnt the Ndrive maps, one you need to pay for, while the OVi maps are free?

Well... 'pay' is such a harsh word. :whistle: But yes, it is. I'm trying to make up my mind between CoPilot & NDrive; I'll buy one of the two at some point in the near future.
