I have a Nokia N81. And trying to get Garmin TX mobile working ,
I tried the tread how to install on Navigator , but still give me that blue tooth search

Any advice on this ?

I guess you mean XT...

Anyway, can't you just cancel the Bluetooth search? I installed Garmin XT on my HTC Diamond 2 and activated via SMS, no problems.

If you boot up the software - is there some sort of option to activate?

this is what i did:

I loaded the software first, then installed the garmin app, then got that SW.UNL code when i went in the folder on my phone for garmin, and placed it there

if i take out my memory card and place it back it asks do i wana run garmin, thats all

The N81 does not have a gps receiver.

EDIT: That is why it always gives you the bluetooth screen. It expects a bluetooth gps module.

but Nuro i then have Nokia maps , doesn't that count as GPS

Nope. My N81 also shipped with Nokia Maps, but the physical gps hardware is missing. The best you can do is to install Google Maps, that will work with cell tower triangulation, but the accuracy is terrible.

Hehe no. GPS is a hardware requirement, Nokia maps is simply a software application.

Why would they do that? Install Nokia maps on, but theres no gps hardware?

Go to m.google.com (from your phone).
There you will find a download link to Google Maps.
Dowload and install.
The rest will work out the box. Once maps is up and running, pressing 0 will show your current location. The best I ever got was 80 meter accuracy.

Just a warning, Google Maps will use your phone's 3G connection to download maps.

HTC's without GPS have Leaf Locate - a pretty handy map application. It's pretty nice for finding places, plotting routes etc, but obvioulsy doesn't tell you where you are at present. I assume Nokia maps is the same principle.

Shouldn't nokia discontinue making these phone, its a 5 the generation phone, i mean the previous nokia navigator works on the gps, even the n76

I have had mine for ages, so I'm pretty sure they have. Due for an upgrade in 3 months. Woohoo!
