Hi guys,

So my bro changed the lock code on my phone and now he's forgotten what it was :(. So now that I switched SIM cards I can't access my phone. I've read on the internet that there's a code that you get from your service provider that works. Does it work? If so, how would I get it? Also are there any other ways that I could reset the code?

Thanks :)

You can try this:

To do a fully hard reset you must switch off your N81, and then do the following combination:

1. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.

2. While holding these buttons, hold the power button for a second to switch on the phone.

3. Release when the phone shows the nokia hands logo

It may take a few attempts and very flexible fingers.

Be aware though that you will lose all your phone numbers and sms/mms messages this way that was stored on the memory of the phone.

This will possibly disable the security code but unlikely.

Take the handset to an independent dealer that offers repairs onsite and get the code read or reset. Most dealers charge around R50 for the service.

Nokia do have the facility to supply the ten digit master code for your handset, but it is unlikely that you'll get such a service in SA.

This is your best bet for unlock code reset. And R50 is not that much.

http://dotsis.com various apps to reset it.

You can usually only reset Nokia security codes via the FBUS as any other method (i.e. USB) at best will be a full factory reset and this will only set the security code function to "disabled" and not set it back to 12345!

In most cases if the code is set so you are required to enter it at start up, the USB facility will be disabled!!

My father had the same problem on his 6300, got the code after a short search on the web. Can't remember it though.

You have to master reset the phone. You can contact your service provider to get a master reset code if you have an account or you can visit the site http://www.unlocking4free.com/ where they are providing unlock code and master reset code for phones like Nokia, Samsung, LG etc. I got mine here and it took about 10 minutes and their support staff was very helpful.
