Nokia" there is WEB then there is WEB?

Hi guys please can someone help me out with some info regarding a problem I’m having with Nokia's a N73 and a N80. In the Icon tray on the main display or in the menu under my own "Web" has any one been able to use this XHTML service I keep getting "unable to locate server" or "error connection time out" I have tried all the access points and have even tried changing the port from 8080 to 9201 it won’t work. Suggestions any one? I'm on Vodacom do we support this service.

Are you even connected to the net through GPRS, 3G etc.?

Have you tried re-setup the browsing profile or sending yourself the settings for GPRS for instance and then try connecting with that profile?

Start from a point to see where the problem is.

What sites are you trying to browse? Are they 100%?

If you have a Voda N73 always check if the Vlive homepage works, if that works than its the site you trying to access. If that dont work its your settings.

Vlive,Intwrnet.GPRS,Smartdata,MTN.GPRS all connect using a I.P address and a port this internet view is WML, So when i tried to use the WEB icon on the N73 which is a HTML,XHTML broweser using one of the above settings it would not connect. The soulution is simple create a new account without a homepage without a I.P address and No Port it worksbut remember to set it as the access point under web. not connections.

Please explain this more simply. I also have an N73, and there are three ways I have found to connect to the internet:
* Hold down the 0 (zero) key. This takes me to a stripped down version (blue) of vodacom4me welcome page saying "Welcome back Richard" etc. If I select "proceed", it will take me to the rest of the v4me site. But I usually go to bookmarks and on.
* From the Go to icon in the menu. This brings up an option for Vodafone live! If I select this, it takes me to the full version (red) of v4me.
* From the Services icon in the menu. This brings up my bookmarks first. If I select a bookmark, then connection goes ahead, landing me at that site.

In all cases, connection is via "internet". All are WML. I must say, this browser works very well, including for reading myADSL. I have read reviews of the N73 that are enthusiastic about its HTML,XHTML browser, but have never managed to access it. So if you have managed, please explain step-by-step. Thanks.

using your browser

1st we need to create the access point for your browser to launch,

Open your menu- go to tools- settings then connections- access points- options create new.

Name Vodacom.Web

No home page

Then go to access point Type in internet if it’s not on the same page press options and select advanced sorry I don’t have a Nokia in front of me right now then save

Delete all other Apn’s in the list you should only have the following

Vlive!
Vlive MMS
Vodacom.Web

This will insure that all internet access points the Vlive web button or the 0 key take you directly to Vlive! Home page.

Then exit all the menus on the main screen you will see your shortcut items and in this you will see the globe press the toggle to the right until you get there, Select.

Now it will ask you to connect say no the hit options scroll down to settings then scroll down to connect using or access point and select Vodacom.Web now save and exit then scroll down to N-series and connect. You can also go to other pages by going navigation and go to URL.

Remove your Proxy

Hi,

The above solutions probably work, but I just downloaded the OTA settings and removed the proxy IP address by editing the advance settings.

Was also p'ed off that the much touted N73 browser was not working but it's sorted now.

Hi Bundy 2005 and Gendibal - success! Thank you for your advice.

However, I found the html browser to be rather clumsy compared to the WAP browser. But I have kept Vodacom.Web as an access point, which I now use for Opera S60_865. I have tried downloading Opera-Mini, but will not install. I have retained Internet as an access point to use for WAP browsing. Quick and clean, especially for any kind of forum browsing. Then I have Vlive! for access to vodacom4me and banking.
