After telling Huawei to shove it because of their attitude, the loss of Android, the arrest of their CFO in Canada, and the shocking service at the somerset west branch, I have a strong belief they are in deep crap. Sanctions on the company are also pending /rant

Where can I get a Nokia in South Africa. Pref a 5 or 5.1. They seem to be difficult to find. I like pure Android, and love nokia

The 5.3 is out and 5.4 is coming out soon.

Vodacom and MTN have them, also try takealot

As an aside, Huawei never lost "pure" Android, which is open source (ie Android Open Source Project, AOSP). What they lost was Google Mobile Services (GMS), which is closed and proprietary just as much as iOS or Windows.

Huawei continued to sell Android devices after the Google ban.

What you miss is the proprietary GMS grafted into "pure Android".

Never had any issues with my Honor/Huawei whereas the Nokia 5 is losing connection and in the past it had to be sent back because of other issues.

I had a Nokia 8, camera was terrible, it's radios are terrible, couldn't get signal in places other phones were fine. My P30 pro can get the wifi router at 2 or 3 bars whereas the Nokia wouldn't even pick it up.

I have a Nokia 7 Plus. It's getting on in life but I am pretty happy with it. It'll be 3 years old soon. I bought it from hi-online.co.za (part of the foschini group), but they seem to only have stock of budget ones these days.

My Nokia 8 has had an excellent run. Battery still good 3 years later.
You're lucky, mine was shot could just maybe get 12 hours out of it. The camera also kept trying to stabilize causing a shimmer effect, found out shaking it worked.

I have been using a 7.2 for a wee while now and it has been a good handset for me.
