Hey guys
I have a Vodacom Talk 1000. I am due for an upgrade, and can basically get any phone. I've been using Nokia since I can remember. I looked into the Nokia X6 and it seems to be a pretty decent phone. But I'm kinda in a toss-up between the X6 and the Apple iPhone. I want a phone that's reliable and can do the things I want it to, I don't want hassles with compatibility and "jailbreaking" ect.

So, any opinions / recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys

Regards ;)

Don't really bother with Nokia (or Symbian rather) anymore. Symbian used to be good, but its way behind now. The HTC Desire is amazing. Android is amazing.

I think the X6 is a solid smartphone of choice if you are pro Symbian or not.
The only issue is you need to decide if you going for the 32GB model that includes the Comes With Music service (free tracks to download unlimited for 1 yr) or the 16GB model much cheaper and no Comes With Music service...

Nokia are continuous released updates and improvments for their phones so,just make sure you always running the latest firmware and you should be good to go

Hey
I got myself the X6, since I had to pay another R60+ p/m to get the iPhone... Just finished setting up the X6... It's quite nice---> plays Youtube via my home WLAN like a charm. Still busy exploring, but it's very nice indeed! ;)

Did u get the 16gb or 32gb model? Make sure running V12 firmare. Is the phone operation speed fast?

32GB, and yes, it has the new V12 firmware. The phone is relatively fast. Just a odd second loading time for the gallery, but I must add that I have quite a lot of files stored there, so it's okay. But overall, for the 8 hours I've had it so far, it's a pretty decent phone!

I am looking to buy a X6 cash since I upgraded to a N97 in January but it was too big for me. Your comparison is not exactly fair as the X6 is far superior to the iPhone. You should rather compare the iPhone to a LG Pop or Samsung Corby or some other fashion phone.

Well, I've been using the phone now for 2 weeks, and I have used the iPhone a little beforehand, but I must say: I am very pleased with the X6. Well worth it IMO. No freezes, no bugs ect. And the touchscreen works really well, especially with sms's. So from my experience with the phone thus far, I would recommend it ;)

Called Cell C today and asked how much the X6 is on prepaid - they don't even have it on their pricelist yet !

Damn, that sucks. I got the X6 on a Talk1000 with Vodacom though, so I don't know how the prices will compare with the different service providers and the different contracts ect.
I hope you can get a deal structured or something! ;)

I've had the X6 32GB for about 6 weeks now.. I loooooove this phone.. Best I ever had; better than my N95.

The free music is worth it alone. And the podcast software is quite cool too.

BUT it does have 2 flaws:
1. It doesn't come with any office or pdf viewers which are quite handy if you check emails on the run. You have to buy this software which is about R150.
2. The screen is hard to see in direct sun.

X6 for sure! ;) Well, I don't know the SE's that well, so I can't comment on if the X6 > SE Satio. But IMO X6 = a good buy!

When it comes to repairs Nokias are a bit easier to work on and they also do not have "a pink thing that goes red" to indicate "water damage" - a common excuse used by technicians that do not want to work on SE phones.

I have no idea, but it's likely that it's the correct pricing for the X6.
