Non-flashed Sonoff = HAss.io + eWeLink + LAN + No Cloud needed

The Sonoff's that I'm using (the first gen stuff) has the latest firmware and it all now has LAN mode.

Since I'm using Google Home, I still need the cloud for giving instructions while away from home.

Pretty old news.

The danger with this kind of thing is always when it suddenly stops working due to being a hack or a change in their protocols breaks it and then you sit with devices installed in odd places.

Much safer option to rather flash it and know what you are dealing with going forward.

I think it is a great way to get started. Get everything in and working on eWeLink which is the easiest option. Then get HAss.io working. This is where I am now having just got my Pi4 this week. The final step is to then Tasmota things if that is the way to go. I like that you don't have to flash the Sonoff to get it to work with HAss.io.

If you're going to leave it on ewelink then you should definitely put it on a separate vlan to the rest of your home stuff...

That's what they say. I'm going to start setting mine up this week coming. I haven't had time this weekend to fiddle as I've been busy, but have a slower week next week.
I've been wanting to have a go at Hass.io for a while, this looks like a good way to try it.

Ok, so this weekend I had some time and got my Sonoffs to show up in HAss. Worked well.

Imaged HAss.io to a 64Gb SD card
Installed File Editor (was called Configurator)
Installed Samba
Installed HACS
Installed AlexxIT/SonoffLAN

Got as far as buttons to show Sonoff state and to toggle them.

Unplugged internet and all worked just fine.
