Bull. If it’s not connected to the grid, it’s nothing to do with Eskom. Eskom are only interested in what’s on their mains via breaker. I’ve been in meetings with them and our entire community, I’ve had multiple discussions with registered engineers. At most they will ask you to confirm you’re using an off-grid system and possibly ask your engineer to sign the paperwork.

What cost you R25k? Can you break that number down?

R10k for electrical engineer to complete the 50 page application (including photographs of components), produce single line diagrams, inspect and perform CoC and supplementary CoC (existing CoCs were incomplete).
R8500 for DGSL and Kiosk including installation (very good value)
R7k for structural engineer’s inspection, report and drawings.
+ 200km round trip to my place.
