Reminds me of the urban legend that does the rounds in my old neck of the woods.
Guy gets his old, beat-up & mismatched car stolen, few days later spots it in a shopping complex with new colour coded doors, bumps and bruises smoothed out (don't ask how he knew it was his car, he just did OK!)
Called the police, they came through and caught the thieves, he drove off with a new & improved car.
