NOOB Build - Very Basic, advice needed.

In my mind Samsungs optic drives are tops! Its all I use!

Might I suggest a second hard drive possibly mirrored to the first or in RAID5 if I'm not mistaken. Reason I recommend it is that if your mom is a hoarder of photos, etc, you'd wanna have it backed up. I got my mom a smaller external laptop drive specifically for that purpose because I know she'll give me a headache if the hdd with all her stuff goes south. Thus I store it on my drives as well through the network

Stay with DDR3 1333MHz. You really won't notice the difference in performance, unless you're running benchmarks and looking for that extra 1%. With RAM, quantity is more important than speed.

By next year March, the new socket 1155 would already be out, and hopefully the socket 1156 stuff would become much cheaper.
If you're looking for a quad core CPU with integrated graphics, then go for the AMD X4 965 and a R1000 worth motherboard, which will include SATA3 + USB3.
Things will look different next year March though.

I would suggest that you stop looking for stuff now and rather wait till next year Feb :)

Oh and I forgot to mention that the Samsung B2333T has
1) only a VGA in and no digital in (HDMI/DVI)
2) a horrible response time of 16ms
3) I can't find it anywhere on Samsung's website - so it's probably not even a full HD screen!

EDIT: Never mind, I see now the i5 7xx range does not have an integrated graphics processor. So scrap that option I guess...
I would keep the i5 760 and get a cheap discrete card or second hand one. Anything is better than on-board imho.
You could always go for the i3 which has graphics and then upgrade later.

Well, it's not like the screen would be used for gaming or major stuff, like the guy said. So if a big decent screen is what you want, you can't find anything cheaper ;)
