Noob dual view setup questions

Renting on a shared property and landlord has indicated that we could share his DSTV subscription

I know that I'll need a decoder on my side and a heartbeat cable to connect his decoder. Can I just purchase any PVR of gumtree to use as a second decoder?

Is there any added subscription fees to activate the dual view facility?

Any insight would be much appreciated.

Any working dstv pvr, yep. It will need it's own dish feed so you'll need to get a multi switch or separate dish. It's an extra 80 bucks a month for extra view.

Just remember for a PVR you need two feeds entering the decoder, so you will need a double LNB.
